Pongo Pigmaeus – Indonesia 1989

The Indonesian Post released the official first day cover, Fauna 1989, features Pongo Pigmaeus as an endangered  species from Indonesia on March 8,1989. This issue FDC as local WWF cover conjunct with the released of WWF stamp series Pongo Pigmaeus upon theme of Fauna 1989.


Pongo Pigmaeus or The Bornean orangutan has a distinctive body shape with very long arms that may reach up to two metres in length. They have a coarse, shaggy reddish coat and grasping hands and feet. They are highly sexually dimorphic, with adult males being distinguished by their large size, throat pouch and flanges on either side of the face, known as cheek pads.

The Komodo Dragon–Indonesia 2000

The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Gili Dasami. It can grow to a maximum length of 3 metres  in rare cases and weighing up to around 70 kilograms .

Indonesian Post has issued the nature conservation stamp series features Komodo, on August 18, 2000. This issue  collaborated with WWF organization by  put the logo of WWF on the each stamp. Also Indonesian Post issued the official FDC of this issue as a local WWF cover.  Maximum card depicts Komodo’s life also issued on the same date,
