Cay Van ( Owston's Banded Civets )- Vietnam 2005

Vietnam Post together with WWF organization issued  stamp set features the rare species, Owston’s palm civet or Chrotogale owstoni on  May 2, 2005. The issue presented in 4 postage stamps and one souvenir sheet . Along with this issuance,  Vietnam Post also released 2 (two) local FDC which depicted the species on the left-side  and a special cancellation mark.

Red Squirrel - Slovenia 2007

On March 23, 2007,  Slovenia Post  issued the WWF stamp series depicted the Red Squirrel ( Sciurus vulgaris ) . The local FDC has been released  on the same date. Image of species has shown on  left side of the FDC and cancelled with a special  post mark. Also  four maxi cards that shown more detail of the species issued together.

The Fishing Cat–Vietnam 2010

In conjunction with the WWF stamp issued on the 01st of August 2010, "Fishing Cat“,  the Vietnam Post released the official FDC which depicts the species and have a special postmarked.


The Vietnam Post  issued 2 first day cancellations of this stamp set with the locations in Hà Nội and Hồ Chi Minh city.  Other cover has sealed with the miniature sheet of stamp set.

The Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized cat. Its fur has an olive-grey colours with dark spots arranged stripe-like running along the length of the body. The face has a distinctly flat-nosed appearance.  They are stocky of build with medium short legs, and a short muscular tail of one half to one third of the length of the rest of the animal.

Pongo Pigmaeus – Indonesia 1989

The Indonesian Post released the official first day cover, Fauna 1989, features Pongo Pigmaeus as an endangered  species from Indonesia on March 8,1989. This issue FDC as local WWF cover conjunct with the released of WWF stamp series Pongo Pigmaeus upon theme of Fauna 1989.


Pongo Pigmaeus or The Bornean orangutan has a distinctive body shape with very long arms that may reach up to two metres in length. They have a coarse, shaggy reddish coat and grasping hands and feet. They are highly sexually dimorphic, with adult males being distinguished by their large size, throat pouch and flanges on either side of the face, known as cheek pads.

Sao La – Vietnam 2000

In conjunction with the issue WWF stamp series, Sao La, Vietnam Post issued the official first day cover which have a specific post marked.  This local WWF cover has sealed with 4 postage WWF stamp, depicted Sao La.
The Saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis),  Vu Quang ox  inhabits the Annamite Range's moist forests of Vietnam and the Eastern Indochina dry and monsoon forests. They have been spotted in steep river valleys at about 300 to 1800 m above sea level. These regions are distant from human settlements, covered primarily in evergreen or mixed evergreen and deciduous woodlands. The species seems to prefer edge zones of the forests.

Endangered Wildlife – Chile 1984

In conjunction with WWF organisation, Chile Post issued the 4 postage WWF stamp  depicts  4 endangered species on 24 October 1984. The official FDC also issued on same date by Chile Post have pictured of those species and post marked with logo of WWF on the sealed stamps. The featured species are Arctocephalus philippii,  Huemul  or Hippocamelus bisulcus, chinchilla lanigera, and Balaenoptera musculus.

The Brown Hyena – Botswana 1995

Botswana Post released this official FDC  in conjunction with the issue WWF stamps, Brown Hyena, on 6 November 1995.The official FDC as local WWF cover depicts brown hyena is feeding carcasses  and have 4 postage WWF stamp with post marked of WWF logo.

The brown hyena (Hyaena brunnea, formerly Parahyaena brunnea) is a species of hyena which occurs in Namibia, Botswana, western and southern Zimbabwe, southern Mozambique and South Africa.It is currently the rarest hyena.

Brown hyenas have social hierarchy like wolves. They are social animals that may live in clans consisting of one adult of each gender and associated young, though there are reports of clans composed of four males and six females. Brown hyenas are primarily scavengers, the bulk of their diet consisting of carcasses killed by larger predators.
 
Brown hyenas are aggressive scavengers, frequently appropriating the kills of black-backed jackals, cheetahs, and leopards, including adult male leopards.

Brown hyenas can measure 86 to 150 cm  in head-and-body length, although they average 110 to 125 cm . The height at the shoulder is 71 to 88 cm  and the tail is 25 to 35 cm long.

Lesotho 1992 – Wildlife Animals

Lesotho Post released five stamps with logo of WWF  featured wildlife's of Lesotho on January 1992. The issued stamps together with the first day cover as local WWF cover.The species depicted on the issued stamp and FDC  are Chacma baboon (20s), Porcupine (40s), Oribi (50s), African Wild Cat (6s), and Cape eland (25s).
